The Urban Child Institute is a non-profit organization1 dedicated to promoting the health of the Mid-South population, particularly children. We pursue this goal through innovative initiatives focusing primarily on prevention and wellness, as well as associated educational and scientific research activities.
We are researchers, strategists, practitioners, parents, and community members dedicated to turning knowledge and research into measurable change. The Institute strives to be a recognized leader in child advocacy, a trustworthy community partner and a source of expertise, advice, and support for like-minded organizations.
We send emails to inform and educate you about the latest on early childhood development, and how it affects our community. If you're interested, let us keep you up to date.
The Urban Child Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit registered to operate as a 509(a)(3) — an organization that carries out its exempt purposes by supporting other exempt organizations. The Institute was formed through its charter to specifically support three entities: Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Memphis. The charter also allows support of other 501(c)(3) organizations.
