The Season for Giving Is Here

As you shop for holiday gifts for friends and loved ones, consider giving back to the community by volunteering your time or making a charitable donation where it can make real difference. The list below includes several suggestions for how you can strengthen our community by lending a hand to families who find themselves in need this season.

During the holidays especially there are many different service opportunities to participate in. If you have children, volunteering is a wonderful way to teach them the importance of caring for those who are less fortunate. Consider getting friends and family members involved! Take time to explain why you are spending your morning delivering meals or choosing gifts that will be given to children in need. You may even start a tradition of serving with the same organization each year.

MIFA

Team Max, Thanksgiving Meal Delivery

Join a team and help MIFA deliver meals to 600 homebound seniors on Thanksgiving morning.

Calvary Rescue Mission

Thanksgiving Dinner

Donate cooked food for the Thanksgiving dinner that Calvary holds for the homeless men and staff at the mission.

Children’s Holiday Party

On December 13, help pass out hot chocolate and cookies to the 750 children who will come to the Calvary holiday party. Donations of new, unwrapped gifts for the children are also needed.

Salvation Army

Giving Tree

Help the Salvation Army provide gifts to thousands of underprivileged children and seniors by purchasing items off of individual wish lists.

Red Kettle Campaign

Help raise funds for the Salvation Army by taking a shift to ring the bell at locations throughout the city.

Drop off new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children in the community; drop-off sites are located throughout the city.

Neighborhood Christian Center

Each December, the Neighborhood Christian Center provides 10,000 meal baskets for families in need. On December 13, help assemble these baskets. Each one can feed a family of four for four days!
